Netflix’s “ The Takedown,” is a French chum bobby film that loyally sticks to the formula of the kidney. The film follows Ousmane Diakhité (Omar Sy), a revolutionary chief of the Paris crime division, and his old friend, François Monge (Laurent Lafitte), an egocentric and tone-absorbed deputy chief of the quarter judicial police, who cross paths again after the events of the original film, “ On the Other Side of the Tracks,” that came out in 2012. Together, they go on a two-man charge to break a murder case in Valergnes.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, “ The Takedown” thematically tries to explore ethnical pressure and emigrant demarcation in the parochial corridor of France where white supremacy still reigns to some lengths. Still, the film nestled down from any worthwhile discussion and majorly concentrated on the ridiculous chemistry between the two police officers with differing personalities. Let’s continue further.
‘The Takedown’ Plot Summary
Chief Ousmane Diakhité is a recusant police officer who doesn’t abide by the laws and can go to any lengths to finish the charge. His recklessness and overconfidence are depicted in the opening sequence of the film, where Ousmane and his mate, Djimon, walk into an underground boxing arena to arrest Europe’s most wanted felonious, Jordan Diaz. Ousmane acts all heroic and tries to arrest big Jordan without staying for the backup platoon, which in turn leads to a melee that's recorded on camera. After Jordan’s arrest, Ousmane’s superior calls him ungovernable and compulsive, yet doesn’t take any action against him because of his recent social media fashionability. Rather, the department wants to wash off their sins and make him the bill boy of the police department because of his skin color. Still, Ousmane has no interest in promoting anyone’s docket and therefore declines the offer without an alternate study.
In the other part of the story, François Monge, deputy chief of the 12th quarter Judicial Police, sits in front of his therapist for evaluation after his associates reported his severe superiority complex and called him a liability to the department. Monge charmingly defends himself and straits his therapist while the scene also establishes the fact that Monge has taken the police chief’s test three times and has failed miserably each time. He requested a transfer to the felonious division five times, but his operation was rejected every time.
While entering his rich parents at Lyon station, Monge spots a disassociated half-body and decides to probe further. Ousmane, from the felonious division, arrives at the scene and is surprised to see his old mate. It's suggested that the two fell piecemeal after Ousmane cracked the police chief’s test and Monge failed to clear it, indeed after having rich and well-connected parents.
Ousmane is informed that the other half of the disassociated body that belongs to Kevin Marchal has been planted by the Saint-Julien-en-Genevois station on a train track outside Valergnes. He decides to travel to Valergnes, and as soon as Monge hears about it, he requests Ousmane to take him with him. After Ousmane refuses, Monge uses his parents’ connection, and the two bobbies land in Valergnes to break the riddle girding Kevin’s brutal murder.

Who Killed Kevin Marchal? And Why?
In Valergnes, Monge and Ousmane met Deputy Captain, Alice Gauthier, who took the bobbies to the morgue where they learned that Kevin Marchal was shot doubly and his body was crossed using a sharp essence object that left blunted injuries near the edges. The bobbies went straight to the Saint-Julien-en-Genevois station and Ousmane supposed that someone was chasing Kevin, after they shot him in the leg, he lost balance on his bike and crashed into the high-voltage lines that cut his body into two halves. One part of his body fell into a train passing at the same moment that carried it to Lyon station, where Monge planted it. Ousmane believed that someone took down Kevin’s bike to abolish the tracks, so he decided to probe Kevin’s house to find any suggestions in there.
At Kevin’s place, Ousmane planted a secret lab where he was producing methamphetamine called Pervitin which was used by the Nazis during the war. Still, Kevin’s mama had no idea about her son’s secret lab, and therefore Ousmane decided to interrogate his friend/ gal, Jessica, who worked at a bar called “ Le Cherry.” While Monge tried to probe Jessica, Ousmane came across racist gawk in the bar named Carl Muller, who attacked Ousmane without advice. Monge and Ousmane tried to stop Carl, and eventually, Monge used a taser gun on him, killing Carl on the spot. He had numerous medicines in his system that redounded in an unforeseen cardiac arrest. Ousmane also planted a tattoo on Carl’s neck that led the bobbies to a security company called Securities, which ran a white racist society called Sons of Clovis. At the HQ of Securities, Ousmane met their leader, Goran Jurdik, who told him that Carl was a member and indeed had a locker inside the installation. Concurrently, Monge planted a Tokarev inside Carl’s locker establishing the fact that Carl killed Kevin.
Chief Mercier precipitously closed the case as soon as the murder armament was recovered and asked the Paris bobbies to go home, but Ousmane plant everything too easy, presumably a well-planned conspiracy to shoot them back. He decided to stay back and plunge into the riddle further, and he followed police Chief Mercier and kept a close eye on Antoine Brunner, the racist mayor of the fiefdom and leader of the France Vive Party. Inside Brunner’s house, Ousmane and Monge plant a secret basement from where Brunner had been planning a coordinated attack on colorful religious spots that belonged to people whom he considered outlanders. His main target was an indigenous center, as Brunner and his fellow white racialists wanted to induce fear among the emigrants and drive them out of their country. Kevin plant out about Brunner’s grand plan that spooked him and decided to inform Chief Mercier about it, ignorant of the fact that Mercier was working for Brunner too and passionately participated in his racist beliefs. Presumably, Brunner asked Goran Jurdik to shoot his stylish man, Carl, to kill Kevin Marchal to abolish the substantiation of their plan.
‘The Takedown’ Ending Explained – Did Ousmane & Monge Arrest Antoine Brunner?
As soon as Ousmane and Monge plant out about Brunner’s coordinated attacks, they participated in the locales with Alice Gauthier and decided to stop Brunner before it was too late. They arrived at Brunner’s secret den, where he was motivating his fellow loyalists with a hate speech. Ousmane asked Monge to divert their attention while Ousmane threw away their munitions into the swash to sabotage their charge. Still, suddenly Alice arrived at the scene and attacked Ousmane, therefore establishing the fact that she was working with Brunner since the morning and had been only helping Ousmane and Monge to keep an eye on their conduct so that they wouldn’t sabotage Brunner’s plan. Ousmane shackled Alice to auto and tried to save Monge, who was girdled by Brunner’s mugs. As soon as Brunner plants out that Ousmane had thrown down all their munitions, he decided to travel to the emigrant center to explode it. Alice uncuffed herself and drove Brunner to the indigenous center while Ousmane and Monge followed them.
Ousmane rammed his vehicle into Alice’s auto to stop them at the position. Brunner crawled out of the crashed vehicle and armed the lemon manually, and Ousmane and Monge had only 3 twinkles to save the emigrants. Fortunately, they vacated the premise in time and avoided any mortal casualties, and as soon as the lemon exploded, a part of the debris fell near Brunner. During the final sweepstakes, Ousmane and Monge knocked down Brunner, who was latterly criminated for his ties to a domestic terrorist group.
The case helped Ousmane and Monge bridge their differences and eventually cherish their fellowship. At this point, Ousmane wanted to help Monge get the recognition that he sustained, as all the credit for Brunner’s case was taken down by Ousmane’s elderly. He called Benoit Meaux, the dispatches director, who eagerly wanted to make Ousmane the bill boy for the police force. At the end of “ The Takedown,” Ousmane requested Benoit to cast Monge rather than him, and presumably, the department complied with his wishes, which is why at the end of “ The Takedown,” we saw Monge shooting for the promotional videotape. Well, Monge eventually got some spotlight and a clip to show off after times of failure and rejection to join the felonious division. Hopefully, the bobby musketeers will strike the screen again for a new adventure or to break a new case in some other part of the megacity.
