Tall Girl 2's narrative sees Jodi navigate her newfound fashionability and relationship with Jack, but how does the Netflix coming-of-age rom-com end?
Netflix's Tall Girl 2 provides ample twists and turns as Jodi navigates another time at Ruby Islands High, but do Jodi and Jack stay together at the end? Directly following the events of Tall Girl, new director Emily Ting's Tall Girl 2 sees Jodi Kreyman (Ava Michelle) at odds with her burgeoning confidence as her fashionability begins to alienate her new swain, Jack Dunkleman (Griffin Gluck). Tall Girl 2's ending is clearly drama-filled, throwing up several shocks as Jodi and her musketeers truly learn what it means to" stand altitudinous."
Despite a lukewarm critical event upon release in 2019, Tall Girl was a smash hit for streaming mammoth Netflix. The first Tall Girl movie was viewed by a whopping 41 million homes across its first 28 days on the platform, with Tall Girl 2 latterly green-lit in 2020 with creator Sam Wolfson returning to pen the effect. Beforehand suggestions suggest Tall Girl 2 will be just as popular for Netflix, with several media outlets tracking its release down to the hour on February 11th, 2022.
Although largely following a direct, coming-of-age format, Tall Girl 2's ending provides the cult with several surprises to unpack. Jodi's tumultuous relationship with Jack is thrown a lifeline, while Fareeda (Anjelika Washington) finds love in the most unanticipated of places. Then is Tall Girl 2's ending explained, as well as a look at whether Jodi and Jack attune or not.
Do Jodi & Jack Get Back Together?
Tall Girl ends with Jack eventually revealing why he always carries a milk jalopy by using it to kiss the eponymous" tall girl" Jodi. Yet from the onset of Tall Girl 2, Jack's passion for his new gal becomes more and more stifling, with the brace ultimately breaking up mid-way through the movie. Jodi and Tommy Torres (Jan Luis Castellanos) appear to have a burgeoning love, while Jack, rather cattily (and pubicly), begins to date Stig Mohlin's (Luke Eisner) family Stella (Johanna Liauw). Yet despite these new love interests, Jodi and Jack inexorably find their way back to each other, with the brace coordinating at the academy spring monodrama of Bye Bye Birdie.
Although not explicitly stated at the end of Tall Girl 2, Jack and Jodi's kiss confidentially at the academy musical suggests the brace has indeed got back together. It's revealed that Jack left his seat vacant at the musical ( important to Jodi's original chagrin) to take better prints of her from the rafters of the stage. This gesture, coupled with his protestation of love for Jodi, hints that Jack has done enough to earn her character's remission, although Tall Girl 2 still ends on the commodity of a thriller as far as the brace's relationship is concerned.
Why Does Jodi Not Pursue Tommy?
One of the more jarring aspects of Tall Girl 2 is Jodi's decision not to pursue her new love interest Tommy Torres despite the brace's egregious chemistry. Jodi and Tommy partake in a kiss in the pictures after her bifurcation with Jack, while Tommy also supports her newfound confidence as her star in the Bye Bye Birdie musical. Still, Tall Girl 2's direction suddenly changes near the end of the film, with Jodi and Tommy suddenly deciding to remain, musketeers, as Jodi realizes she still has a passion for Jack after trying to burn his gift from the first movie. Jodi's stubborn passions for Jack are used as the explanation for suddenly dropping Tommy, but this conclusion feels slightly earned after the brace's buoyant song renditions together across Tall Girl 2.
Are Stig And Fareeda Dating?
Interesting action in Tall Girl 2 is Stig Mohlin's redemption from the first film. In Tall Girl, Stig is an arrogant, colluding exchange pupil that underhandedly attempts to invite Jodi down from Jack. When Jodi doesn't fall for Stig's preludes, he tells his Ruby Islands High classmates that Jodi is infatuated with him, pressing his childhood. Yet Stig's rejection at the end of Tall Girl appears to have made him a better man this time around, with his character making genuine sweats to atone for his conduct across Tall Girl 2.
As Stig ingratiates himself into Jodi's fellowship group, he becomes near to her stylish friend Fareeda, whose apparel designs he titleholders. The brace ultimately partakes a kiss, but Fareeda backs down in fear of breaking"the girl law," as Stig was Jodi's first crush in Tall Girl. Ava Michelle's Jodi, still, has also grown from her guests across both Tall Girl pictures, with the promoter giving Fareeda her blessing to date Stig and the brace latterly admitting their chemistry to each other. Stig and Fareeda don't explicitly state they're dating in Tall Girl 2, but Stig's relocation offer ( more on this below) to Fareeda heavily implies an imminent relationship between the two.
Will Fareeda Join The Foreign Exchange Program?
After chancing themselves free to pursue their clear adoration for each other, Stig and Fareeda grasp formerly again at the end of Tall Girl 2. Stig also asks Fareeda to join the foreign exchange program at his Swedish academy, with Fareeda's expression suggesting she's seriously considering taking him up on his offer. Although Fareeda gives no definitive answer, a move to a Swedish academy could set up a tantalizing third Tall Girl movie in a fresh setting down from Ruby Islands High, with the outgrowth of Stig's offer likely hanging in the balance until also.
Will There Be A Tall Girl 3?
Although there's no sanctioned word yet from Netflix on the status of Tall Girl 3, a third movie in the series does feel decreasingly likely. Netflix clearly has a partiality for releasing its own plant's romantic slapsticks in threes, while the followership event for Tall Girl and Tall Girl 2 displays a clear fanbase empty to see further of Jodi Kreyman's story. For now, still, the cult will have to be happy with Jodi's coming-of-age tale in Tall Girl 2 after her rumbustious success as Bye Bye Birdie's lead and flourishing tone- the belief that enabled her to mend her relationship with Jack in the stylish way possible.
